Event Overview

Entries are invited from local musicians across Warrnambool and the South-West to take part in the first “Warrnambool Showdown” Competition.

This will be run at Warrnambool Showgrounds as part of Warrnambool Show 2023.

Date: Friday 27th October, 4.30pm -9.30pm

  • Original or covers are accepted
  • Any age/Any genre

NOTE: This event is a competition for emerging musicians and is not designed for established musicians who are regularly doing paid gigs.

How it will be run.

  • Demo videos to be submitted by Sunday, October 15th, (3 minute maximum)
  • Warrnambool FReeZa Group will select 8 finalists
  • 8 Finalists will be announced Wednesday, 18th October 2023.
  • The 8 Finalists will play up to a 15 minute slot live on stage at The Warrnambool Showdown, Friday Night October 27th
  • Winner will be selected by a panel on the night.
  • There will also be a A People’s Choice Award chosen by the public attending on the night.

Winner’s Package

The winner will:

  • Perform LIVE at Warrnambool Show Saturday Night
  • AND be given a slot on Silver Ball Sessions Season 3

This includes a professionally produced recording of a performance produced by Dale Cleves Music and Fitzmedia

PLUS they will receive

  • A mentoring session with an experienced local musician
  • Live Performance slot at Warrnambool Rodeo
  • People’s Choice Award Winner will have the opportunity to perform at the new Ignite Music Festival to be held in February 2024.

Runners Up: All receive a mentoring session with an experienced local musician.

How to apply

Before beginning application process please be advised to have ready the following information.

You will need to:
• Provide a link to a demo tape/video via an online streaming provider of your choice e.g. Vimeo, YouTube/Facebook etc (No more than 3 minutes long)
• Complete a short bio of yourself and your music genre
• Provide a promotional photo

Please Note: Provision of clips and photographs will only be used for promotion of the show and for no other purpose.
